Village Health Worker Group:

Jayesh (Translator extraordinaire)

Picture
Jayesh grew up at The Comprehensive Rural Health Project (CRHP) in Jamkhed. He has been working for the youths and women farmers at CRHP since 1996. More recently he has worked as a social worker and training coordinator on campus.
He has been a huge asset for us here during Photovoice as he is just as passionate about the project as we are and has developed deep and meaningful relationships with the communities we work with. We can't thank Jayesh enough for all of his help with the project.

Sharda has been Kurdaitan’s Village Health Worker for nearly 20 years now. She has two sisters and one brother, and especially enjoys working in the village’s anganwadi, the government-run pre-school, and cooking nutritious meals for the kids there.
“When members of the Young Farmers Club saw me taking pictures, they asked what I was doing and I told them about Photovoice. They were excited about the project and offered to help tell the story of Kurdaitan’s farmers, livestock and watershed development.”

During her 7 years as a VHW, Kalpana has especially enjoyed gathering and mobilizing the adolescent girls and women of Kusadgaon. She loves learning more about community organization and hopes that Photovoice will be a way she can demonstrate that visually.
“So far, I especially like taking photos of the pregnant women and handicapped in my village. Their situation has improved a lot over the years and now their voices can be heard as well.”
